My First Author’s Reading

I’ve been chattering away to friends and family about the plethora of stories I have in my computer that plan on turning into novels. My first novel My Way to You is currently in edits, and I’m starting to think the same way the authors whose work I edited probably thought—What’s taking so damn long?!

Instead of gnawing at my fingers, I decided to think about sharing my work. I was invited last month to do an author’s reading at the Hijabi Chronicles, a Muslim event at New York University. I was a bundle of nerves because it was my first time reading my writing to an audience.

It was a wonderful experience and has me hyped to do more. People approached me afterward asking me where to buy my book and to find out how to be notified of its release.
